Christmas!

This year was my first Christmas away from home. It was difficult but I worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so it hardly felt like Christmas anyway. It was fun to see how Steve's family did things too.
Here are some pictures from the week leading up to Christmas and Christmas. I had a lot of fun with my new nephew baby Quinn! He was so snuggly and I loved holding him for hours during the day.

We had a gingerbread decorating contest. It was Jess, Jake and Rod vs. Christine and Nate and Lily vs Me, Steve, Ashley and Mike. Our team got creative with the house and made it two story. Jess, Jake and Rod did a sweet snow covered roof and cool icicles, and Christine and Nate and Lily made theirs look like brick with powdered sugar. It was fun!

This is Steve's present from Courtney and Brad. He got new snowboard pants and wanted a hat to coordinate his jacket and his pants. They sent him this and he LOVES it! When he put it on he said
"This is big enough for my head! YES!"

Baby Quinn was blessed on Sunday (Christmas) but I was at work so I missed all of family pictures and such. This is Christmas night right before Steve and I left--the whole family! (minus Lily)

On the 26th we flew out to Cali to have Christmas with my family. They pretty much didn't have Christmas on Sunday and pretty much postponed it until the day after so we could all do it together. So fun!
Here are some highlights of the gifts...

A forever lazy!
Dad's favorite sandwich--a DP cheesesteak 2 days old, wrapped in cold packs and in pieces all the way from Utah! Haha!

 New rollerblades!
And the best gift of the day--Memory boards! My grandma was in an Alzheimer's unit before she died and when we went to visit her we found this sweet board up in the hallway at the place. It had fun gadgets on it to play with and help keep the people either entertained or work on fine motor skills or help them remember. Whatever it was for, we loved to play with it whenever we went. So...Mom and Dad made one for each of us. Pretty dang sweet and it is hanging in our house right now! :)
(I tried to make the pic bigger so you could see the cool stuff on it...
water faucet, light switch, locks, light bulb etc...)
We spent a day in Santa Cruz enjoying the beautiful weather! It was a trip of more firsts for Steve too! He held a sand crab for the first time and let it go and watched it burrow in the sand. When we ate on the wharf, he ordered crab cakes for the first time ever and loved them! (more firsts with pics from San Fran below...)

We love the sea lions under the wharf!
Another day we spent in the beautiful city of San Francisco. We were determined to get Steve on a trolley car for his first ride (although we later found out he rode on when he was a baby)...
This is dad watching for the next trolley car so we could try to get on it
Here we are! Riding the cable car! Loving life!

We had a WONDERFUL Christmas break filled with family and friends. We are so blessed right now with all of the opportunities and successes we have in our lives. We are looking forward to an even better year in 2012!!!!
